How did you do over the holiday?
Shotax is 80, raiding, and doing well in the healing game. I didn't do as good a job as I thought I would in keeping up with my day to day activities. To be honest, it was a lot faster than I thought it would be.
There have been many questions thrown around on the official Blizzard forums regarding leveling as a Resto from 70-80. I can tell you from first hand experience, it was great. Here are my reasons why:
1) You just don't die. Earth Shield and Riptide was all I needed to stay healthy, coupled with magma totem for aoe, or searing totem for individuals and a spell rotation.
2) I leveled through instances as well as questing. I didn't finish a zone. I actually dinged in ZD questing. I quested in both Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra. When I was 74 I went to Dragonblight, at 78 I moved to Zul' Drak. In between that I healed every instance there was leading up to level 80 dungeons. I was healing Halls of Lightning at 77. I healed Pinnacle at 78. Gear wise, when I hit 80, I was ready to go into heroics just at or above 1500 sp.
3) Gearing up in instances made leveling easier, and made me money. All quest turn ins, unless better than the blue gear I was wearing was cashed in.
4) Healing through the lower levels has made a friend list that is robust now. Not only am I healing my guilds heroics and 10 man raids, but the many people I met along the way send me tells asking for heals in theirs. This is a good thing, especially since we are not doing 25's.
5) Last but not least, back to the money thing, I am now finishing quests, at 80, and reaping the rewards of xp=$$.
So to recap, leveling as resto is good. From my persepctive, real good.

I probably have my action bars too cluttered, but I find it extremely difficult to switch from effective self heals to effective dps. And, since I leveled as enhancement primarily, it just takes longer as resto :) I'm impatient.
